In the dance of a dragonfly's wings and the whisper of a Hawaiian breeze, we recall the radiant spirit of my Aunt Susan - a blue eyed light, who loved dragonflies and thrived when living by the Hawaiian sea. People knew her for swimming daily and for smiling big.
After a courageous 30-year relationship with anorexia, Susan transitioned - leaving behind a profound impact on our hearts. She was incredibly frail, weighing only 50 pounds. Her heart was set on going back to Hawaii. That's where I believe she is now.
Susan’s journey, marked by her battles and the ineffable light she carried, serves as a poignant reminder of the silent struggles that many endure. She was a testament to the unsettling reality that beneath the vibrant smile, a storm can brew, unnoticed and unaddressed. In her memory, every dragonfly sighted and whisper of the sea breeze, reignites a promise we made - to raise awareness and extend a hand of solace and support.
The Empowerment Fund is a sanctuary of trust, an "I see you" and "I believe in you" extended to every soul battling body image issues. It’s born from a place of deep empathy, echoing Susan’s unyielding light that gleamed even amidst the storms of her most fragile days. $1 minimum for each pair of leggings sold goes directly to this reservoir of support, to be donated directly to vetted organizations providing support directly to patients in need.
As each legging - or - "Inner Avatar" finds a home, she carries with her a glimpse of Susan’s light - a light that illuminates paths, warms souls, boosts your confidence, and reaffirms an unspoken solidarity. After all, Susan would be so proud of me to have created Lingerie Leggings. This journey has become a stride towards a world where the whispers of body image struggles transform into dialogues of healing, support, and gratitude.
